“Act of Valor” Becomes A TV Series

Relativity Media and the Bandito Brothers, the team behind February’s “Act of Valor” film, are shopping around a TV series version of the feature to both broadcast and cable networks says The Live Feed.

The original film mixed real life U.S. Navy SEALs and Navy Special Warfare Combatant Crewmen with actors like Roselyn Sanchez, Nestor Serrano and Emilio Rivera. Though the central story was fake, dealing with a mission to recover a kidnapped CIA agent, the techniques and combat tactics used in the field were authentic.

Shot on the cheap, the film still managed to pull in a modest but profitable $ 80 million worldwide. With the show, the aim is to create “something more visceral than any other show on television” according to RelativityREAL CEO Tom Forman.

Bandito is also producing “React”, a similar grounded in reality series about a secret black ops task force. That project is in development at TNT with ‘Valor’ director Scott Waugh producing and former “Suits” showrunner Sean Jablonski writing.
