Adam Wingard, who made a splash at the 2011 Toronto International Film Festival with the horror film “You’re Next”, is set to direct “Dead Spy Running” for Warner Bros. Pictures says Deadline.
Based on the series of novels by Jon Stock, the story follows a young DJ forced to go on the run with a beautiful secret agent assigned to watch him after he is framed for his MI6 agent father’s murder.
Danny must ultimately rise up and defeat a terrorist intent on destroying western civilization in an adventure that takes him to London, Paris, Corsica, New York and Mumbai.
Wingard’s partner Simon Barrett will rewrite the script. Stephen Gaghan and Jamie Moss penned previous drafts. Kevin McCormick and McG are producing.
Lionsgate recently set an August 23rd 2013 release date for Wingard’s “You’re Next”, which follows a family reunion under siege from animal-masked killers.
