Adams Takes Lead In “Orphanage” Remake?

Amy Adams is reportedly early discussions to star in the remake of J.A. Bayona’s 2007 Spanish thriller “The Orphanage” at New Line says Bloody Disgusting.

If she signs, Adams will play a young woman who returns to the orphanage where she was raised to help turn the facility into a home for mentally-disabled children. Her young son soon stars playing with an imaginary friend and later disappears, at the same time a mysterious child attacks her and she struggles to uncover the truth about the orphanage’s dark past.

Belén Rueda starred in the original which Guillermo del Toro produced. del Toro and Larry Fessenden worked on the remake’s screenplay based on Sergio Sanchez’s original. At last report, Mark Pellington was attached to direct but he’s not happy with the delays (though claims the new script improves on the original).
