While “Les Miserables” scored the most awards, it was Ben Affleck’s political thriller “Argo” which took top honors at this year’s British Academy Film Awards (BAFTAs).
“Argo” scored Best Film, Best Director and Best Editing, while recent James Bond entry “Skyfall” won Best British Film and Best Film Score.
“Amour” took Best Foreign Language Film and star Emmanuelle Riva won Best Actress. “Django Unchained” won best supporting actor for Christoph Waltz and best original screenplay.
“Lincoln” took Best Actor, “Silver Linings Playbook” won Best Adapted Screenplay, “Life of Pi” won Best Cinematography and Visual Effects, and “Anna Karenina” scored Best Costumes.
“Brave” scored Best Animated Film, “Searching for Sugarman” scored Best Documentary, and the filmmakers of “The Imposter” won Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director or Producer.
“Les Misérables” took Best Supporting Actress for Anne Hathaway, and three more in technical categories.
They weren’t the only awards over the weekend as “Skyfall” cinematographer Roger Deakins won the top award at the American Society of Cinematographers Awards for his work on the Bond film. Deakins beat out Life Of Pi‘s Claudio Miranda.
