“Artist” Sweeps The Spirits & Cesars

There’s only hours to go before the Oscars, and “The Artist” has continued its award dominance by scoring four major nods at the Independent Spirit Awards along with six wins at France’s Cesar ceremony.

At the Spirits, ‘Artist’ took best picture, director, actor and cinematography – beating out ‘The Descendants’ which took two nods for best screenplay and supporting actress. Michelle Williams (“My Week with Marilyn”) and Christopher Plummer (“Beginners”) also scored acting awards.

Meanwhile the French silent film won big in its home country’s equivalent of the Oscars, including best film, actress and director. However Jean Dujardin missed out, losing best actor to Omar Sy for his work in “Intouchables”.
