Bay’s “Ninja Turtles” Reboot Delayed

For what looks like the third time this month, Paramount Pictures has pushed back another of its upcoming projects by several months.

The Hollywood Reporter says that the planned reboot of the “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” franchise, which was originally slated for December 2013, is now targeting a May 2014 release.

The reason for the delay is said to be script issues, and work is immediately stopping at the film’s pre-production offices in Vancouver with staff being let go and told the stoppage is “indefinite”. A Paramount rep did not immediately comment.

Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes is producing with Jonathan Liebesman (Wrath of the Titans) directing from a script by Kevin Eastman, Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec.

This delay comes on top of the recent delays of the likes of “World War Z” and “G.I. Joe Retaliation” previously slated for this year but pushed back into early 2013.
