Kenneth Branagh is set to do double duty on the upcoming Jack Ryan reboot at Paramount Pictures reports Variety.
Along with directing, the “Thor” helmer and “Wallander” star is in negotiations to play the Russian villain in this attempt to reinvigorate the franchise based on Tom Clancy’s famous literary hero.
In this original tale, Chris Pine plays Ryan as an ex-Marine who now works as a successful financial analyst in Moscow. He discovers a plot by his employer to finance a terrorist attack designed to collapse the U.S. economy.
Lorenzo di Bonaventura is producing with Mace Neufeld and David Barron. The third series of “Wallander” comes to a close on Sunday in the U.K.
