Casting: Brand, Wilson, Arianda, Smith

Pierre Pierre
Brit comic Russell Brand is in early talks to star in Larry Charles’ raunchy comedy “Pierre Pierre” at Escape Artists and Category 5. The project previously had Jim Carrey and Jason Reitman attached as star and director respectively.

Brand plays an obnoxious French nihilist who transports a stolen painting from Paris to London. Along the way he crosses paths with a French police inspector, a serial killer named Pigeonshit and his own brothel-owning mother. [Source: Variety]

Million Dollar Man
Luke Wilson is in final negotiations to star in Scott Marshall’s upcoming indie sports comedy “Million Dollar Man” at Slater Brothers Entertainment and Portofino Pictures.

Wilson will play a down-on-his-luck route driver for a soda company who’s given a second chance in life as a football kicker. [Source: Variety]

Fellini Black and White
Nina Arianda has signed on to play Italian film star Giulietta Masina, wife of filmmaker Federico Fellini, in Henry Bromell’s “Fellini Black and White”. Shooting begins early next year.

The story takes place during Fellini and Masina’s visit to Los Angeles for the 1958 Academy Awards, where their film “Nights of Cabiria” won the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film. William H. Macy, Terrence Howard and Peter Dinklage also star. [Source: Deadline]

Untitled Nicole Holofcener Project
Christopher Smith (“Paranormal Activity 3,” “The Reluctant Fundamentalist”) is set to join Julia Louis-Dreyfus and James Gandolfini in “Please Give” helmer Nicole Holofcener’s untitled next project at Fox Searchlight.

Smith will play a young man who Louis-Dreyfus’ masseuse character meets prior to falling for her new friend’s husband (Gandolfini). [Source: Variety]
