Casting: Butler, Nicholson, Heche, Gigandet

Hunter Killer
Previously reported and now confirmed, Gerard Butler is in negotiations to play submarine Captain Joe Glass in Antoine Fuqua’s “Hunter Killer” at Relativity Media.

An adaptation of Don Keith and George Wallace’s novel “Firing Point”, the story tells about a team of NAVY Seals in a submarine sent on a mission to Russia to stop an admiral from starting war with America. [Source: Coming Soon]

An offer is out to Jack Nicholson to star in the Brian Helgeland-directed Jackie Robinson biopic at Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures.

No word on what role Jack’s been offered but it’s likely Brooklyn Dodgers executive Branch Rickey. [Source: Vulture]

Arthur Newman, Golf Pro
Anne Heche has joined Dante Ariola’s dark comedy “Arthur Newman, Golf Pro”.

Colin Firth stars as Wallace Avery, a man who hates his job and is despised by his family. He decides to fake his own death and create a new identity, along the way meeting a young woman (Emily Blunt) with her own troubled past. The pair start breaking into empty homes to pose as the absent owners.

Heche will play Firth’s girlfriend who treats him with disdain. Becky Johnston penned the script and shooting kicks off this month in North Carolina. [Source: Variety]

Free Rise
Cam Gigandet (“Twilight”) has joined the cast of the indie drama “Free Rise” alongside Anna Paquin.

Paquin plays an abused single mother in the 1970’s who flees to Florida with her two daughters to start a new life.

Gigandet will be playing her new love interest. Shana Sosin penned the script and will direct the film which begins shooting shortly in Florida. [Source: Variety]
