Casting: Cooper, Brody, Hauer, Thwaites

Reasonable Doubt
Samuel L. Jackson and Dominic Cooper will star in the indie legal thriller “Reasonable Doubt” which begins shooting next month in Canada.

Formerly titled “The Good Samaritan”, the story centers on an up-and-coming assistant D.A. prosecuting a fatal hit-and-run case with inconclusive evidence. Following the trial, the assistant D.A finds himself struggling to hunt the man he got acquitted. [Source: Variety]

Baggage Claim
Adam Brody has joined David E. Talbert’s romantic comedy “Baggage Claim” at Fox Searchlight. Paula Patton stars as an unmarried flight attendant who becomes determined to find a man as her younger sister’s wedding approaches.

Brody will play a flamboyant flight attendant who, working with a team of airport personnel, make sure she crosses paths with several ex-boyfriends who are traveling. Derek Luke, Taye Diggs, Djimon Hounsou, Lauren London and Jill Scott also star. [Source: Variety]

True Blood
Rutger Hauer has signed on as a series regular for the upcoming sixth season of HBO’s “True Blood”. Hauer plays Macklyn, who has a deep and dark connection to Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) and her brother Jason (Ryan Kwanten).

This past season saw the brother and sister learning their parents were seemingly killed by a (presently unseen) vampire named Warlow. Macklyn will no doubt tie into the plot. [Source: The Live Feed]

Oculus
Australian actor Brenton Thwaites has been cast as the male lead alongside Rory Cochrane and Karen Gillan in the horror thriller “Oculus” at Intrepid Pictures and Film District.

The story follows two sibling orphans who witness a haunted mirror killing someone – a murder the young brother is charged with. Now rehabilitated and in his twenties, the brother wants to move on but his sister is determined to prove the truth about the mirror. [Source: Screen Daily]
