Casting: Winslet, Vergara, Riseborough, Fonda

A Little Chaos
Kate Winslet will join Matthias Schoenaerts on the Alan Rickman-directed long-germinating historical drama “A Little Chaos”.

Winslet will play a garden designer locked in a bitter rivalry with a fellow horticulturalist (Schoenaerts) as both vie for the patronage of Louis XIV in the late 17th century. [Source: Empire]

Sofia Vergara (“Modern Family”) is in negotiations to star opposite Jason Statham in the Simon West-directed remake of 1986 Burt Reynolds action feature “Heat”. William Goldman, who wrote the original film and book, is also penning the update.

The story centers on a recovering gambler-turned-hired bodyguard (Statham) working in Vegas who decides to help a friend (Vergara) after she is attacked by the mob but gets in over his head as he seeks revenge. [Source: THR]

Andrea Riseborough has joined the cast of Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu’s dark comedy “Birdman”. Riseborough will play the role of Laura.

Michael Keaton stars as a former actor, famous for playing a superhero, who attempts a career revival by directing a Broadway play. His efforts are stymied by an egotistical lead actor (Edward Norton). [Source: Deadline]

This Is Where I Leave You
Jane Fonda is in negotiations to join Tina Fey and Jason Bateman in the Shawn Levy-directed film adaptation of Jonathan Tropper’s comic 2009 novel “This Is Where I Leave You”. Shooting kicks off late Spring in New York.

Fonda will play the newly widowed Hillary Foxman in this story of a dysfunctional family reunited for a very tense week to mourn the death of their patriarch. Jason Bateman and Tina Fey play two of the four Foxman children. [Source: Deadline]
