HBO and BBC2 have given a full first season, eight half-hour episode order to Christopher Guest’s new series comedy “Family Tree” reports Variety.
The story follows an aimless 30-year-old (Chris O’Dowd) who goes on a journey to discover his family roots after inheriting a mysterious box of belongings from his great-aunt.
The order was reportedly given based on the strength of Guest and Jim Piddock’s pilot script with NBCUniversal Intl. TV set to produce the series which Guest will direct and executive produce alongside Piddock and Karen Murphy.
“Bridesmaids” and “The IT Crowd” star O’Dowd is keeping busy, working on a comedy spanning a 15 year period covering the Irish economic boom and bust.
