Thompson on Hollywood reports that Warner Bros. Pictures has spent a cool $ 20 million picking up distribution rights to the Wachowski siblings and Tom Twyker‘s highly ambitious adaptation of “Cloud Atlas”.
The film, which currently has a fairly epic runtime of 164 minutes, is currently targeting a U.S. domestic release on December 6th this year. The film is essentially taking the slot left (albeit two weeks later) after Warners pushed back another ambitious sci-fi project, Alfonso Cuaron’s “Gravity”, to 2013.
Next up, Relativity Media has set a September 27th 2013 release for “Paranoia”, Robert Luketic’s thriller about an entry-level staffer at a giant telco who is blackmailed to become a corporate spy. Gary Oldman, Harrison Ford, and Lucas Till also star.
Finally, Dimension Films has announced an October 4th 2013 release for “Sin City: A Dame to Kill For” which Mickey Rourke and Jessica Alba are confirmed to be returning for.
