The Weinstein Company have announced a May start-of-production date for a sequel to 2000’s “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon,” the Oscar-winning international hit from director Ang Lee.
John Fusco (“Hidalgo,” “The Forbidden Kingdom”) penned the script while veteran Chinese director Ronny Yu is in talks to direct. Harvey Weinstein is producing the $ 20+ million budgeted film.
‘Crouching’ was based on the fourth book in Wang Du Lu’s “Crane-Iron Pentalogy”. This one will be based on “Silver Vase, Iron Knight” which is the fifth book in the series.
It’s not immediately clear yet which actors will reprise their roles, but it’s thought that some likely will.
