“The Shawshank Redemption” director and former “The Walking Dead” show runner Frank Darabont has come onboard Legendary Pictures’ upcoming “Godzilla” reboot.
Darabont has been hired to do a final rewrite of the script by Max Borenstein (“The Seventh Son”). Shooting on the project is still on track to begin in March ahead of a release on May 16th 2014. Gareth Edwards (“Monsters”) remains attached to direct.
Meanwhile, Legendary is in a battle with Warners-based producers Dan Lin and Roy Lee. Lin and Lee came to Legendary with a Toho rights deal for the iconic reptile. Now that they have the rights, Legendary apparently wants to drop them. However, the pair isn’t going without a fight and it’s thought this could wind up in the courts.
