One day after Michael Fassbender became attached to the “Assassin’s Creed” adaptation, word comes of another recently acclaimed video game making the jump to the big screen.
CBS Films have announced they have secured the screen rights to Square Enix’s iconic “Deus Ex” videogame franchise.
Set in the near future where human augmentation has triggered a technological renaissance, the story follows a security specialist who must embrace mechanical augments in order to unravel a global conspiracy.
Though launched in 2000, the franchise found new life and fans with last year’s “Deus Ex: Human Revolution”. That game was not only a big earner but nabbed over 100 industry awards.
As a result it will serve as the primary template for the film which Roy Lee and Adrian Askarieh are attached to produce.
