Directors: Yates, McQuarrie, Pink, Favreau

A bunch of interesting director-related talk today via Deadline and Moviehole.

First up, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” director David Yates is said to be considering helming the “Tarzan” reboot in development at Warner Bros. Pictures.

Paramount is reportedly courting Christopher McQuarrie to helm their adaptation of the Tom Clancy novel “Without Remorse” featuring the John Clark character. If McQuarrie is hired then he’ll have to pen a new draft to replace the previous one by Shawn Ryan.

Next, Steve Pink (“Hot Tub Time Machine”) is in early talks to rewrite and direct the upcoming sequel to the 2003 pitch black cult comedy “Bad Santa” at Dimension Films. Billy Bob Thornton is expected to reprise the title role in the sequel which has a script by Johnny Rosenthal.

Finally, the film adaptation of the musical “Jersey Boys” is set as Jon Favreau’s next feature with shooting scheduled to begin in January in New York and New Jersey. Casting notices are now out for the four key roles of Frankie Valli, Bob Gaudio, Tommy Devito, and Nick Massi.
