Robert Downey Jr. is looking to star as legendary defense attorney Perry Mason in a film reboot of the property at Warner Bros. Pictures says Variety.
The film will go back to Erle Stanley Gardner’s 82 original novels and several dozen short stories which are set in the rough and tumble world of early 1930s Los Angeles,
Mason’s secretary, Della Street, private investigator Paul Drake, and Mason’s longtime courtroom nemesis, Hamilton Burger will all appear in the film which Downey Jr., Susan Downey and Robert Cort will produce
Robert Downey Jr. and David Gambino came up with an original story and producers are currently looking for a writer. ‘Mason’ is perhaps best remembered for the popular TV show starring Raymond Burr that ran in the late 50’s and early 60’s.
