“Dredd” Director Forced Off Production?

In a rather bizarre twist, “Dredd” director Pete Travis has apparently been “removed” from the upcoming comic book adaptation right in the midst of post-production reports The L.A. Times.

According to the report the decision was made after filming was complete and Travis got into “creative disagreements” with the producers. Those in charge of the production apparently “did not see eye-to-eye on footage Travis was delivering”. Despite his removal, Travis is “keeping up with progress via the Internet”.

Alex Garland, who produced and penned the script, will now take charge and may be involved in some reshoots and/or potentially seek a co-director credit.

Karl Urban, Olivia Thirlby and Lena Headey star in this version of the dystopian tale set in a time of Megacities where a police force is given the power to act as judge, jury and executioner to whomsoever they perceive to be part of the criminal element.
