DreamWorks Animation has entered into an agreement to acquire Classic Media, owner of extensive portfolios featuring many beloved family entertainment franchises.
Classic Media’s intellectual property library features over 450 titles including Casper the Friendly Ghost, Where’s Waldo?, Lassie, The Lone Ranger, George of the Jungle, Rocky & Bullwinkle, VeggieTales, Postman Pat and Noddy.
The deal, for a cool $ 155 million in cash, gives DW access to Classic’s brands which they plan to “leverage across our motion picture, television, home entertainment, consumer products, digital, theme park and live entertainment channels” says CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg.
