Joel Edgerton will take over Michael Fassbender’s role in the Natalie Portman-led, Lynne Ramsey-directed western “Jane Got A Gun”.
The story centers on a woman whose outlaw husband returns home riddled with bullet wounds and barely alive.
When her husband’s gang eventually tracks him down to finish the job, she is forced to reach out to an ex-lover and ask if he will help defend her farm.
Fassbender was to play the ex-lover, while Edgerton to play the villain – the head of her husband’s gang who lays siege to the homestead. Fassbender has exited, so Edgerton has stepped into the ex-lover role.
Edgerton’s former villain role will now be played by Jude Law who just signed onto the project. Filming kicks off in a few weeks in Mexico.
Scott Steindorff, Aleen Keshishian and Terry Dougas are producing. Fassbender’s departure was due to scheduling conflicts with “X-Men: Days of Future Past”.
