Emile Hirsch Joins Berg’s “Lone Survivor”

Emile Hirsch is in early talks to play the final lead role in Peter Berg’s “Lone Survivor” at Emmett/Furla and Universal Pictures says Variety.

An adaptation of the non-fiction book of the same name by Marcus Luttrell, the story details a covert mission in the Hindu Kush in 2005 undertaken by the author and his fellow Navy SEALs who struggled to survive an attack by Taliban forces.

The mission went wrong after their presence was given away, and Luttrell was the only one who made it out alive. Hirsch would join the already cast Mark Wahlberg, Taylor Kitsch and Ben Foster.

Berg, Sarah Aubrey, Randal Emmett, George Furla, Akiva Goldsman and Barry Spikings will produce. Shooting kicks off this fall.
