“Country Strong” filmmaker Shana Feste is in talks to rewrite and direct “Endless Love” for Universal Pictures says The Hollywood Reporter.
Based on Scott Spencer’s 1979 novel, the story follows two teenagers and their all-consuming love for each other.
Things go wrong when the boy turns obsessive and concocts a plan to ingratiate himself with the girl’s family by setting her house on fire.
Josh Safran wrote an earlier draft of the screenplay which Feste will polish. Scott Stuber, Pam Abdy, Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage will produce.
The book was previously adapted for the screen in 1981 starring Brooke Shields and Martin Hewett, though is better remembered for the title song by Diana Ross.
