Fincher Tries Kickstarter For “Goon”

He hasn’t been able to find financing through traditional means, so filmmaker David Fincher has turned to crowdfunding site Kickstarter for money to develop an animated feature based on Eric Powell’s comic “The Goon”.

The project has been in development for several years with Fincher as executive producer while Tim Miller and Jeff Fowler would co-direct. There was even a proof of concept trailer developed sometime back which you can see on Vimeo.

However he hasn’t been able to secure money for a cinematic take on the paranormal-themed quirky comic because the film would be at least a PG-13. These days financiers aren’t keen to back animated movies that aren’t all-ages family entertainment.

Fincher and Miller have posted a video asking for $ 400,000 to help fund a story reel for the project.
