Universal Pictures has debuted both the first poster and, just moments ago, the first trailer for Joseph Kosinski’s sci-fi epic “Oblivion”.
The story is set on a scorched Earth with Tom Cruise playing one of the last men on the planet tasked with repairing drones that retrieve vital resources. The populous now lives in the giant cities that orbit in the clouds.
When a female pilot crash lands on the planet, she and Cruise’s character go on a journey that forces him to question everything he thinks he knows.
Kosinski’s trailer showcases a quite stunning visual aesthetic in a story that seems like a mash-up of the “Portal” video games, “Wall-E” and “Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind”.
