20th Century Fox has come onboard to co-finance and internationally distribute Steven Spielberg’s “Lincoln” from Dreamworks reports Variety.
Disney, who now distributes Dreamworks projects, will serve in that capacity domestically – releasing the film through Touchstone at the end of the year.
Based on “Team of Rivals” by Doris Kearns Goodwin, the story focuses on the political collusion of Abraham Lincoln and the powerful men of his Cabinet on the road to abolition and the end of the Civil War.
The move is slightly amusing as Fox has another Lincoln-themed film out this year, albeit with a completely different spin – “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter” which opens in June.
