20th Century Fox has picked up Frank Moll’s historical epic script “Arminius,” a biopic about the Germanic chieftain.
Arminius trained as a Roman warrior before defecting back to his homeland. At just 25 years of age he managed to unite the separate German tribes and lead them into the Battle of the Teutoburg Forest. Said fight annihilated an entire Roman army of 20,000 men.
As a result, the Romans made no more concerted attempts to hold Germania beyond the Rhine river. The story of the film will focus on the battle which took place in 9 AD.
Wolfgang Petersen and Julie Yorn are producing.
