Gaghan Re-Writes Shyamalan’s “1000 A.E.”

Stephen Gaghan (“Traffic”) has completed a polish of Gary Whitta’s script for sci-fi feature “One Thousand A.E.” at Sony Pictures and Overbrook Entertainment says Variety.

Will and Jaden Smith are set to star as a father and son who crash-land on Earth a millennia after mankind has abandoned the planet. The crash leaves the elder Smith badly injured, and it’s up to the boy to find help in what is now a strange and dangerous place.

M. Night Shyamalan is directing the project and re-wrote Whitta’s screenplay to suit himself. Gaghan has been tasked with getting the script in shooting shape and handed in his revisions a few weeks ago to the studio.

Gaghan is expected to continue to work with Shyamalan to fine-tune the current draft ahead of the film shoot in February.
