“The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn: Part 1” grossed an estimated $ 30.3 million from opening night midnight screenings according to Summit Entertainment says E! Online.
While the phenomenal number is the best in the series thus far, it is only $ 300,000 ahead of the previous instalment ‘Eclipse’ and not near the record of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2” which earned $ 43.5 million at midnight sessions back in July.
High-end estimates however seem to be on track with ‘Dawn’ expected to pull in $ 140-150 million in U.S. domestic box-office alone over the weekend.
Reviews wise ‘Breaking Dawn Part 1’ (26% on Rotten Tomatoes/45 on Metacritic) is sitting on par with the second film ‘New Moon’ (28%/44), both of which are below the original ‘Twilight’ (49%/56) and the previous sequel ‘Eclipse’ (49%/58).
