Have Your Say: “Oz: The Great and Powerful”

Serving as a prequel to both L. Frank Baum’s fourteen “Land of Oz” books, and MGM’s 1939 cinematic classic “The Wizard of Oz,” Sam Raimi’s “Oz the Great and Powerful” is a $ 200 million gamble for Disney.

This time last year, the Mouse House unleashed another big-budget fantasy tentpole in the form of “John Carter,” a film now infamous for being a major flop for the studio. A year before that, the company raked in over $ 1 billion at the box-office worldwide from another fantasy epic – Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland”.

“Oz” made $ 23.5 million at the U.S. box-office on Friday and is looking to be headed for a whopping $ 74 million domestic opening weekend. Now is the chance to have your say – what did you think of “Oz: The Great and Powerful? Did it live up to expectations? Did it surprise you? Please leave your reactions in the comments below.
