“He-Man,” “Black Lagoon” Get New Scribes

Sony Pictures and Escape Artists have hired “The Expendables 2” and “The Mechanic” scribe Richard Wenk to perform rewrites on the screenplay for their live-action He-Man reboot “Masters of the Universe” says Variety.

Jon M. Chu (“G.I. Joe: Retaliation”) is directing the project based on the classic 80s cartoon series and Mattel toy line. Numerous scribes have had a crack at the script in the past.

Meanwhile “The Invasion” scribe Dave Kajganich is tapped to pen the remake of the 1954 classic “Creature From the Black Lagoon” at Universal Pictures says Heat Vision.

Despite earlier reports, Carl Rinsch is not attached to direct. Kajganich, who has worked on various Stephen King projects in development including new takes on “The Stand” and “Pet Sematary”, is reportedly starting from scratch.
