“Homeland,” “Sherlock” Win CCTV Awards

The 2nd annual Critics’ Choice Television Awards took place Monday night at the Beverly Hilton and the results were excellent choices from all involved – the only real downside being the lack of recognition for certain key shows like “Game of Thrones,” “Justified” and “Downton Abbey”.

In the drama category the big winners were Showtime’s “Homeland” for Best Drama Series and Best Actress (Claire Danes), and AMC’s “Breaking Bad” for Best Actor (Bryan Cranston) and Best Supporting Actor (Giancarlo Esposito). Christina Hendricks’ work in “Mad Men” took Best Supporting Actress.

In comedy “Community” took home Best Comedy Series, Louis C.K. won Best Actor for “Louie”, Ty Burrell and Julie Bowen took home supporting nods for their work on “Modern Family”, while Zooey Deschanel (“New Girl”) and Amy Poehler (“Parks and Recreation”) split Best Actress.

PBS’ “Sherlock” was named the Best Mini-Series/Movie and also took Best Actor for Benedict Cumberbatch in that category. Julianne Moore’s work in HBO’s “Game Change” scored Best Actress.

FX’s “Archer” won Best Animated Series, “The Voice” scored Best Reality Series, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon won Best Talk Show, and Paul Rudd and Lucy Liu won Best Guest Performers for their work in “Parks and Recreation” and “Southland” respectively.
