Jason Clarke Joins Rebooted “Apes” Sequel

Jason Clarke (“Zero Dark Thirty,” “Lawless”) has signed on to star in the Matt Reeves-directed “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes” at 20th Century Fox.

Set 15 years after the events of 2011’s “Rise of the Planet of the Apes,” the story is rumored to focus on human scientists struggling to survive alone in San Francisco.

Another aspect of the story is the struggle of intelligent ape Caesar (Andy Serkis) to maintain dominance over his kingdom. Clarke’s role is unknown.

Mark Bomback penned the script. Peter Chernin, Dylan Clarke, Amanda Silver and Rick Jaffa are producing, and shooting aims to begin in the Spring.
