Jessica Chastain is in the mix to play a key role opposite Robert Downey Jr. in “Iron Man 3” reports Deadline.
Chastain was previously offered the role but scheduling issues forced her to skip it. Various actresses like Diane Kruger, Gemma Arterton and Isla Fisher met over the role but none had been locked.
Now though scheduling has worked out so that Chastain can join the cast after all. The role is said to be a “sexy scientist every bit as smart as Tony Stark”, which is likely the character of Dr. Maya Hansen who developed the Extremis nanotechnology that’s a big part of the upcoming film.
Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Ben Kingsley and Guy Pearce are all expected to star.
