“Kill List” Helmer Goes Psychadelic

Arriving on the scene with the stunningly well filmed (and just plain odd) “Kill List” last year, British filmmaker Ben Wheatley is certainly not resting on his laurels.

Having already got “Sightseers” in the can for release later this year and the monster thriller “Freakshift” in development, Wheatley is managing to squeeze in yet another film – “A Field in England” for Film4.0 says Screen Daily.

Set during the English Civil War, the story follows a small group of deserters who flee from a raging battle through an overgrown field. Captured by two men, one an alchemist, they are forced to help in his search to find a hidden treasure buried somewhere in the field.

Crossing a vast circle of mushrooms, the group descends into a chaos of fighting and paranoia. The treasure isn’t what they expect and they “become victim to the terrifying energies trapped inside the field”.

“Kill List” stand out cast member Michael Smiley has joined the cast alongside Reece Shearsmith, Julian Barratt, Richard Glover, Ryan Pope and Peter Ferdinando.

Wheatley and his regular writing collaborator Amy Jump penned the script and shooting kicks off late September. Claire Jones and Andy Starke will produce.
