Kinberg Hired For “X-Men: First Class” Sequel

Simon Kinberg (“Mr. & Mrs Smith,” “X-Men: The Last Stand,” “Sherlock Holmes”) has been hired to pen the first draft of a sequel to this past summer’s “X-Men: First Class” at 20th Century Fox says Superhero Hype.

Kinberg served as a producer on the 60’s set prequel which starred Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy. After strong reviews but only decent box-office ($ 350 million worldwide), the fate of a sequel wasn’t certain but seemed likely.

It’s presently unknown if Matthew Vaughn will be returning to the director’s chair and the principal cast will reprise their roles. Ashley Edward Miller, Zack Stentz, Jane Goldman and Vaughn penned the first film.
