Kinnaman Turns Villain For “Child 44”

Joel Kinnaman (AMC’s “The Killing”) is in negotiations to star in the upcoming Soviet-era Russia-set thriller “Child 44”.

The story follows a member of the Soviet police (Tom Hardy) who, while investigating a series of child murders, finds himself the target of his own government’s suspicions.

Kinnaman would play Hardy’s ambitious and murderous nemesis, while Noomi Rapace is already cast as Hardy’s chameleon-like wife.

Kinnaman previously worked with the film’s director Daniel Espinosa on both Swedish action hit “Snabba Cash” and the Denzel Washington-led “Safe House”.

Ridley Scott and Michael Schaefer are producing.
