“Knight Rises” Wraps, Bale & Oldman Discuss

Christian Bale has hung up his Batcape for good.

“I wrapped a few days ago so that will be the last time I’m taking that cowl off. I believe the whole production wrapped yesterday, so it’s all done. Everything’s finished. It’s me and Chris – that will be the end of that Batman era” says Bale in an interview with the Philippine Daily Inquirer.

Asked about his co-stars, the most revealing comments came in his discussion of Anne Hathaway – “I’m very impressed when somebody really seems to acquire an ownership of a character without having worked on it or prepared for some amount of time. I saw that in Anne. When Chris watched the screen test, he agreed that Anne did a wonderful job. In many ways, she has the hardest job. There are a number of people who feel that the Catwoman role has been defined previously. So, I always saw Anne’s role as being the toughest job of any of us.”

In other ‘Knight’ talk this week, Gary Oldman has also been out doing interviews and gave MTV News an interesting answer about why they went with Bane – “I think it was smart of Chris to go with a lesser-known villain rather than — because Heath’s performance, first of all, we love the Joker in Batman. Heath’s performance was so dazzling that you got to think, ‘How the hell do I top it?’ Instead of going for Riddler, instead of going for Penguin, he’s gone a slightly different way with the story.”
