Anthony LaPaglia (“Without a Trace”), Rachel Griffiths (“Six Feet Under”) and Callan McAullife (“I Am Number Four”) are set to star in the telemovie “Underground” about the early life of Wikileaks founder Julian Assange reports Inside Film.
Matchbox Pictures is producing the project which will shoot in Melbourne shortly. Robert Connolly, who previously worked with LaPaglia on the 2009 true story drama “Balibo”, has penned the script and will direct.
Newcomer Alex Williams, who graduated from acting school last year, has scored the role of Assange himself. Griffiths will play Assange’s mother, LaPaglia is a policeman investigating the young hacker.
Laura Wheelwright and Jordan Paskopoulos also star. The Ten network will screen the telemovie in Australia later this year with an international release to follow afterwards.
