Lilly, Weaver, Jovovich Talk Upcoming Films

The Hobbit
“Lost” actress Evangeline Lilly says she’s as worried about her newly created character of Tauriel the Elf in Peter Jackson’s two-film adaptation of JRR Tolkien’s “The Hobbit” as the fans are. “Yeah! I am very concerned to this day that people will watch the film and I’ll be the black mark on the film. I know how adamant the purists are and I’m one of them!”.

So why was it done? “Upon reading The Hobbit again, as an adult, I can see why additional characters were needed to round out the story as an adaptation – especially female characters! The Hobbit didn’t include female characters at all and was a very linear story, a book for children, really. What Peter, Fran [Walsh] and Philippa [Boyens] have done is all in perfect keeping with Tolkien’s world, while adding a third dimension to an otherwise very two-dimensional story.” [Source: SFX]

Avatar 2 & Ghostbusters 3
Sigourney Weaver is out doing promo rounds for “Abduction” and dropped a couple of comments about both the upcoming “Avatar” sequels and “Ghostbusters 3”.

Asked if Grace would be back for the “Avatar” follow-ups, Weaver said “Don’t worry, I will be back. Jim [Cameron] says no one ever dies in science fiction. He’s told me the stories for the next two movies and I have to say that they’re absolutely wonderful and there’s a real treat in store. Now we just have to make them.”

As for a third “Ghostbusters”, she says “I have yet to read the script. I’ve had a couple of calls and I know they’re rewriting and all I said was that I hope my son, Oscar, has grown up to be a Ghostbuster and Ivan Reitman said yes. Beyond that, I have no idea. I hope it comes together, but we already did two wonderful films and, if we have to let this one go, that’s fine.” [Source: Get the Big Picture]

Resident Evil: Retribution
Milla Jovovich has revealed a couple of new plot details about the upcoming “Resident Evil: Retribution” and confirmed one or two casting bits.

First up “Chris, Claire, and K-Mart have been captured by Umbrella”, meaning Wentworth Miller and Ali Larter will NOT be returning. She also shot down talk of Jensen Ackles appearing saying his commitments to “Supernatural” mean he can’t do it.

She did confirm that videogame characters Ada Wong, Leon Kennedy and Barry Burton will all be featured in the film. [Source: Digital Spy]
