Lynne Ramsay A No Show On “Gun” Set

Filmmaker Lynne Ramsay failed to show up for the first day of shooting on her new Natalie Portman-led western “Jane Got a Gun” on Monday in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Financier Scott Steindorff says the incident happened after an eleventh hour attempt by Ramsay’s lawyer to renegotiate terms. Steindorff and Portman have scrambled and apparently already found a replacement director. Exclusive Media, the film’s international sales rep, says:

“As the international sales team for Jane Got A Gun we are disappointed by the departure of Lynne Ramsay but Scott Steindorff and the production team have our full support and we are fully confident the film schedule will be back on track within 24 hours as we understand a replacement director is already in hand.”

The film centers on a woman who enlists her ex-lover to save her outlaw husband from a gang. The news follows on from a casting shift a few weeks ago when Michael Fassbender dropped out after a reported falling-out with Ramsey.

Portman, Joel Edgerton, Rodrigo Santoro and Jude Law were also set to start filming today.
