“Midnight,” “Jasmine,” “Excited” Set Dates

Sony Pictures Classics has the rights to three of the most anticipated art house films this year from three high-profile auteurs. Today, they locked down their North American release dates.

First up is Richard Linklater’s “Before Midnight,” the sequel to the acclaimed “Before Sunrise” and “Before Sunset.” SPC will roll the film out in a limited platform release commencing May 24th in New York and Los Angeles.

The distributor will adopt the same strategy a month later for Pedro Almodovar’s airline comedy “I’m So Excited” starting June 28th in New York and Los Angeles.

The same rollout happens again a month after that for Woody Allen’s latest film “Blue Jasmine” starring Cate Blanchett, Alec Baldwin, Peter Sarsgaard and Louis CK. It scores a release from July 26th.

In news of a date change, CBS Films has moved up the Michael Douglas and Robert De Niro-led comedy “Last Vegas” by nearly two months – from December 20th to November 1st.
