Famed “Spirited Away” and “Ponyo” director Hayao Miyazaki is tackling something quite different for his next effort at the helm.
Twitch reports that Miyazaki is said to be developing a film about Jiro Horikoshi, the man who designed the ‘Zero’ fighter plane infamously used by the Japanese during the Pearl Harbor attack during World War II.
The project is said to be Miyazaki’s next with animators currently being sought for the film. The project could be out as early as late 2013, though a 2014 release is more likely.
GKids takes over from Disney this year on handling releases of all future Studio Ghibli productions.
