Natalie Portman is in negotiations for the female lead while Jeremy Renner and Javier Bardem are reportedly having preliminary conversations over the same role in Ridley Scott’s “The Counselor” reports Twitchfilm.
Michael Fassbender will play a respected lawyer who thinks he can dip a toe in to the drug business without getting sucked down. It is a bad decision and he tries his best to survive it and get out of a desperate situation.
Portman would play his fiancee Laura. Renner was previously linked with both Bradley Cooper and Brad Pitt for the role of the villain, a criminal named Reiner who facilitates the lawyer’s entry into the drug trade.
The latter two however seem to have dropped out of the running. Shooting is aiming to kick off May 1st ahead of a 2013 release.
