New Dates: WWZ, TMNT, 1 Shot, 3DD

Paramount has undergone a rather major shake-up of its movie release schedule according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The biggest news is that the Brad Pitt zombie action pic “World War Z” has been pushed back exactly six months – from December 21st this year to June 21st 2013.

Replacing it in the pre-Christmas slot is Chris McQuarrie’s “One Shot” starring Tom Cruise which will open in the same frame “Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol” opened in last year to massive worldwide success. ‘Shot’ was previously slated for next February.

Part of the reason for the change is readiness, “One Shot” is expected to be finished and locked before the more FX-heavy zombie epic tentpole was said to be completed.

Also their $ 100 million CGI/live-action revival of the “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” has set a Christmas Day 2013 release.

Also today, Bloody Disgusting reports that Dimension Films has set a June 1st theatrical and VOD release date for “Piranha 3DD” in North America.

It’s presently not known how wide a release the Piranha sequel’s theatrical run will be, however that weekend so far has only one wide release – “Snow White and the Huntsman”.
