New Master, Softly, Punch Release Dates

Some big release date shifts and announcements this week, mostly though it is good news.

The Weinstein Company has shuffled around two of its major Fall releases. Paul Thomas Anderson’s much anticipated “The Master” has been moved up four weeks from October 19th to September 14th.

The film has essentially swapped places with Andrew Dominik’s “Killing Them Softly” which was set for September 21st but is now opening October 12th.

Sony Pictures has moved up the Tommy Lee Jones/Meryl Streep-led “Hope Springs” by four months from mid-December to just two weeks away – August 8th.

Disney has moved up its 3D re-release of “Monsters Inc.” by a month from January 18th 2013 to December 19th this year.

“Saw” and “Insidious” director James Wan’s latest horror feature “The Conjuring” is set to hit January 25th 2013, while Brad Furman’s online gambling thriller “Runner Runner” will open September 27th 2013.

Finally, the Eran Creevy-directed and James McAvoy-led “Welcome to the Punch” will get a March 15th 2013 release in the U.K., which means a U.S. release will likely follow soon after.
