Nina Arianda, who just won the Best Actress Tony for her work on the stage in “Venus In Fur”, will make her screen debut as 1960’s rock icon Janis Joplin in a new biopic about the singer reports Deadline.
“Martha Marcy May Marlene” director Sean Durkin will helm the sub-$ 20 million project which deals with the final six months of the singer’s life with flashbacks to her early career.
Arianda will sing Joplin’s tunes in the film and Peter Newman will produce with shooting to kick off early next year.
