There’s been some confusion as to how many “Avatar” sequels are on the way. Most of that comes from a quote back in May when Cameron said he is now “in the ‘Avatar’ business. Period. That’s it. I’m making ‘Avatar 2,’ ‘Avatar 3,’ maybe ‘Avatar 4.'”
Now, producer Jon Landau has clarified the comment with Courier Post and confirmed there is no fourth “Avatar” film on the way.
Instead they are only working on the next two films which are being done together – “We [are] doing two back-to-back, but not a third.” The sequels are currently targeting a December 2014 and December 2015 release.
