Oscar Animation & European Film Award Noms

Twenty-one films have been officially submitted for consideration for the Best Animated Feature award at the Oscars in February. This list will be whittled down to five finalists which will all compete for the award. In alphabetical order, the list includes:

“Adventures in Zambezia,” “Brave,” “Delhi Safari,” “Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax,” “Frankenweenie,” “From Up on Poppy Hill,” “Hey Krishna,” “Hotel Transylvania,” “Ice Age Continental Drift,” “A Liar’s Autobiography: The Untrue Story of Monty Python’s Graham Chapman,” “Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted,” “The Mystical Laws,” “The Painting,” “ParaNorman,” “The Pirates! Band of Misfits,” “The Rabbi’s Cat,” “Rise of the Guardians,” “Secret of the Wings,” “Walter & Tandoori’s Christmas,” “Wreck-It Ralph,” and “Zarafa”.

Meanwhile, Michael Haneke’s “Amour” has scored six nominations at this year’s European Film Awards. That leads the pack ahead of Steve McQueen’s “Shame” and Thomas Vinterberg’s “The Hunt” which scored five nominations apiece.

The three will compete for the Best Picture award along with Olivier Nakache & Eric Toledano’s hit “The Intouchables”, Paolo & Vittorio Taviani’s “Caesar Must Die”, and Christian Petzold’s “Barbara”. The announcements will be made December 1st.
