“Paradise Lost” Film Adaptation Dead

Legendary Pictures has pulled the plug on Alex Proyas’ ambitious feature adaptation of John Milton’s epic poem “Paradise Lost” reports Reuters.

Bradley Cooper, Casey Affleck and Benjamin Walker were set to star in the film which was originally set to begin shooting last month in Australia until Legendary delayed the shoot indefinitely in December due to financial issues.

At the time the film was going over the originally planned $ 120 million budget due to the extensive green screen work and VFX involved in creating the story of Lucifer’s fall from grace and the war between the forces of heaven and hell.

Suggestions arose a few weeks ago that filming would resume in June but now Legendary is pulling the plug altogether as a source tells the trade that the intricate special effects “required a substantial investment in technology” which made the necessary budget cuts impossible. “This isn’t ‘Avatar’. They’re only going to make it for a price” the source added.
